Soundafrique band has brought back with a bang the live band sensation in Nairobi. It has a funky musical taste that brings back the early 21st century rhumba feel but is also fascinating to the present generation.
Led by vocalist Doris Chepchumba, EMAS awards nominee, whose colorful and bold approach to music owed much to the experience she gained while she was the lead vocalist with the popular Maroon Commandos, Soundafrique is the band to watch in Nairobi!
Backed by four other great vocalists Emily, Riffin, Villy and Marai, the Soundafrique singers are a great balance for any rendition or rhumba composition. Molding elements of traditional music, lingala, chakacha, afro-jazz, afro-zouk and zilizopendwa, Soundafrique is an all rounded band for any occasion.
In the backline are Elly Nzima who plays the keyboard, bassist Jimmy Daka, Solo guitarist Sylvester Maina aka Mainangu (an ex-member of the Maroon Commandos), rhythm guitarist Adolf Kilesi and drummer Toto Ilunga.
The band is signed under the Soundafrica label and is the latest addition to the record labels services.
